When people come to me for help, it’s often after the traditional medical approach has failed to provide relief. Some are in deep, chronic pain. Others are simply seeking a more holistic path. Each person’s healing journey is unique and requires time, patience, openness, and courage. No two individuals are the same, and neither are their illnesses. That’s why I tailor each treatment plan specifically to the person sitting in front of me. I deeply believe that you know your body best, and I listen closely—collaborating with you every step of the way.
As a naturopathic doctor, my clinical focus is chronic illness, pain management, and women’s health. But my greater mission is to help you reclaim the connection between your mind and body—the foundation of your body’s ability to heal itself. I approach illness as the body’s way of expressing deeper imbalances: unprocessed stress, lifestyle patterns, emotional suppression, and environmental triggers. Through a combination of bodywork, dietary and lifestyle consultation, botanical medicine, supplementation, and homeopathy, we begin to untangle the root causes—not just the symptoms.
My hands-on therapies—such as craniosacral work, lymphatic drainage, cupping, massage, energy healing, and hydrotherapy—help to ease physical pain and calm the nervous system. When the body begins to relax, the mind starts to reconnect, and your innate healing process is reawakened. The symptomatic nature of chronic disease, combined with the anxiety of living with it, often creates a cycle that feeds itself. My protocols help break that loop—addressing not only the physiological but also the dietary, mental, and environmental contributors. My philosophy is rooted in the understanding that healing is always possible. I walk with you on that path—with compassion, curiosity, and commitment.

Mariko Spalding, ND, LMT (She/Her)
Licensed Naturopathic Physician in Washington State, USA
Licensed Massage Therapist in Washington State, USA
I was born and raised in Japan. I had a long journey of finding my profession as a Naturopathic doctor. My life-changing moment was when I overcame PCOS by changing my diet and lifestyle, but the biggest factor I found was the importance of finding authenticity in myself and knowing the real causes of my stress.
I believe finding the root cause(s) and your true self is the most important starting point to treating the whole person. It is so important to understand what is going on in your body and the reason why you are having symptoms.
I speak English and Japanese.

6 Principals of Naturopathic Medicine
The Aster is a plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. Its name, "Aster," comes from the Greek word for "star," inspired by the star-like appearance of its petals. In Japan, the Aster is called "Shion" and has been mentioned in classical literature, such as The Tale of Genji. Its light purple color, tinged with a subtle blue hue, has been cherished since ancient times.
In Japanese culture, the Aster symbolizes "recollection" and "I will never forget you," while in Western culture, it represents "patience," and "a symbol of love."
I chose "Aster" as the name for my business to honor Japan, where I grew up and gained a deep appreciation for its culture and history. It also reflects my aspiration to embody the qualities associated with the Aster: patience and love.
